Winter Break Extra Credit
Over break, you may do up to 5 "Current Event" article reviews. These must be articles written with the last year (so only 2011 articles). The articles can be about anything Science-related, I would prefer that they be about something Planetary or Space Science related. For each article, please include the following:
1. Title
2. Author
3. Source (where did you get it? website? newspaper? etc)
4. Brief Summary: What is the article about? Topic, supporting and important details.
- 3-5 complete sentences
5. Response: What did YOU think about the article? Did you learn something new? Do you agree with the article? Why or why not?
- 3-5 complete sentences.
Each article review will be worth up to 5 points. If you chose to type your reviews, please email them to me at hurst.scienceclass@gmail.com before January 3. If you write them by hand, they MUST be turned in on January 4th, the day we return from break. Term 2 grades are due on the 5th.
Thank you! Hope everyone is having a wonderful break!!

Old Room... New Teacher :)
Welcome to Ms. Hurst's 8th grade Science class!! It might be your old room... but we'regoing to be hanging some posters, putting work up, and giving it some personality. Hopefully we will be getting our projector screen and white board soon, but until then, we're going to get creative :)
You just started the "Planetary Sciences" unit with Ms. Hibbard working with maps... and we're going to keep moving forward with the unit until we leave for Winter Break. I'll be working with Ms. Hibbard to keep things going as smoothly as possible.
I hope you are as excited as I am about this change... I know we only have a couple of weeks before we go on Winter Break, but we're going to get as much as we can done, and who knows what the classroom will look like when you come back!
